The clouds have mostly disappeared today, but the remnants of Cyclone Funa passed through the north island yesterday. It may seem odd to think, but it seems to me that Wellington was slightly sheltered from the winds. I was out for a walk both last night and this morning, and the wind wasn’t that abnormally strong. The rain that we received was kinda pleasant, too. This is how people get lulled into a false sense of security. I’ve got the same problem with New Zealand’s earthquakes.
Back to up, I saw that there is a new ceiling in the Wellington Central library. I was up in the café, finishing off a novel. A pair of guys were moving around with what looked like floor plans, but looking up. It dragged my attention ceiling-ward, to the blue and white tile-like things that cover the structural and ventilation bits. They look good – definitely better than the temporary insulation that was in place before. It looks a lot less like a series of cocoons splattered into the ceiling and a lot more like a design. I’ll try to sneak through tonight with a camera.
